Elshan Mamedov has graduated from Theater History & Criticism Program at GITIS in 1989. During his education in GITIS, he created a theater-lab “Timbre”.

In 1992 he completed his postgraduate study in Art History parallel to his education in Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (focused on Czech theater avant-garde in 1960s).

From 1994 to 1996 he took courses dedicated to French language and French studies at Moscow State Linguistic University. Which helped him to translate numerous French plays in Russian language.

In 1993 he launched “Independent Theater Project”.

Till 2000 Elshan Mamedov successfully combined both careers: of theater producer and Head of production and advertising structures of Mosfilm film concern and MediaMost holding.

In 2005 he created one of the largest Russian authoring agencies “NTP.The Independent Theatre Project agency”. The agency cooperates with well-known playwrights from Europe and the U.S. together with the leading author’s agencies.

Since 2017 he has been teaching at the Theater Production Department of GITIS.

With the direct participation of Elshan Mamedov GITIS Publishing House has published books of the “Drama Theater” series: a collection of plays “Dad. Mom. Son” by Florian Zeller and a collection of plays by Neil Simon “Funs and other plays”.
